Do You Really Need Gluten-Free Makeup?

"The gluten-free movement is spreading to cosmetic counters, as
companies roll out products made without gluten (a protein in wheat,
rye, and barley that's often used as a binder in makeup). If you're
sensitive to gluten or have celiac disease, must you make a swap?
Generally, no, says Alessio Fasano, MD, director of the University
of Maryland Center for Celiac Research, because gluten isn't
absorbed through the skin. The exception: lip products, which can
be ingested. Try Physicians Formula Matchmaker pH Powdered Lip
Gloss, or no-gluten lipsticks and liners from Afterglow Cosmetics."
